As a local United Way chapter, the Redwood County United Way Board Members determine where the funds raised are distributed. The following agencies are local non-profits that rely largely on Redwood County United Way funds to continue to operate. Every year, the Redwood County United Way touches the lives of over 12,000 people in Redwood County. If there is a non-profit agency that is special to you, as a donor, you can choose where your donation is sent.

Redwood Area Compassionate Friends
The Redwood Area Compassionate Friends is a Support Group for parents whose child has died. We meet monthly at Gilwood Haven in Redwood Falls on the third Thursday of each month 7:30-9:30 PM. (except December, when there is a memorial service -Worldwide Candle Lighting-at 7:00 PM on the second Sunday) Anyone whose child has died-no matter what the age or cause of death-is welcome to attend. We find that when a child dies, there is overwhelming Community support initially, but as time goes on, it is difficult for the parents to find people who really understand what they are going through. The Compassionate Friends is here to fill that void! We have a Lending Library available at the meetings which includes reading materials and videos concerning grief that many have found helpful. We have a monthly Newsletter containing articles written by parents for parents and including a reminder of the next meeting. We are supported by individual donations and the United Way. We serve Redwood Falls, and communities in Redwood and surrounding Counties. Our Newsletter reaches about one-hundred families.
